Cannot Add Contacts as Address Book Option is Greyed Out

Cannot add contacts as address book , one symptom of this is when you see the option Show this folder as an e-mail address book is greyed out.

This in turn stops us from being able to create new emails and resolve the recipients address to an address in our Contacts.

This happens as Outlook does not know where to search for the contact you need.

This can happen due to..
1. The Outlook Address Book or OAB has not been added to your profile
2. A corrupt profile which will simply have to be re-created

To resolve 1 we need to add the Outlook Address Book to our profile
Make sure you Exit Outlook
From the Start Menu select Control Panel and launch Mail Show Profiles,
Double Click to edit your Profile
Select Email Accounts
Add a new directory or address book, Next
Additional Address Books, Next
Select Outlook Address Book
Finish

Launch Outlook again
Right Click on your Contacts choose Properties, Outlook Address Books
Now you should be able to add a Tick to Show this folder as an e-mail address book
Perform the same for any other Contact folders you wish to add as an address book

Finally
Select Tools Menu and then Address Book
From the Tools Menu select Options
You should now see your contact as an address book
If not select Add, Find Outlook Address books and your contact will be under this, now just add each contact folder as required.

Note
When viewing your address books you can move them up or down in search order from the Addressing screen, put the smallest at the top and largest at the bottom as it is the most efficient way to search.

Tip
When you create an email you type in part of a name if Outlook is taking too long to resolve the name, it can be forced by hitting both CTRL + K keys together.
