The Obvious Adsense Secret

Not another Adsense secret you say, but if your website or blog is getting low Adsense clicks it could be just what you’re looking for.

I’ve always written content with two things in mind, readers and search engines, but if your websites income is generated primarily by Google Adsense  you need to add a third party into your content mix.

Google Adsense, if your articles don’t advise to Adsense in very clear terms the types of ads you want you may simply get ones that don’t compliment the contents meaning resulting in very low Adsense clicks, this is the Adsense secret simple eh?

How many people think about this when writing content?

An example of this is when I wrote an article on laptop overheating, because I stipulated laptop too many times I simply got ads for laptops, but once I changed around some of the content emphasizing phrases such as overheating, getting to hot, thermal problem, most of the ads changed to be more online with the content.

Section targeting
of course we can always use section targeting, which is a way to show Adsense via a section of the content on your site the type of ads you would like.

You just add the following two lines and any content you want emphasize for Google in the centre of this

<!– google_ad_section_end –>

The problem with section targeting is being able to find enough content that really shows what your page is about, if you’re having problems getting correct ads to show up on your site then the issue is with the content and even adding section targeting may not give you the kind of ads you need resulting in still low Adsense clicks.

Two methods of working around this.

For existing articles rewrite a paragraph then use the section targeting on this, I use this method and have had some wonderful results.

For new articles you can either take more time to make the whole article very clear in terms of wording or save time and just make sure the top two or three paragraphs really drive home what your article is about, then use the section targeting on this area.

More examples

  • With the first example if shows how a different products with the same name can be confused

    With our Windows we offer a free 5 year warranty.

    This type of text could result in Microsoft Windows type ads being shown, so if anyone is looking for windows for their house they are not going to be clicking on Microsoft Windows ads.

    Changing it to something such as with our double glazed Windows and doors we offer a free 5 year warranty on all.

This leaves little or no doubt of what the page is about.

  • The next example breaks down the actual words as even this can result in the wrong ads.

    Buying a new computer could be false economy upgrading your computers processor could be much cheaper and work out faster than buying a new computer.

This would probably result in ads for computers, although you might get some clicks as many people might decide to replace, you would still be missing out on most of the possible clicks as people want to upgrade.

  • Speed up your computer, a processor upgrade will make give a big performance increase over older processors, replacement processors or CPU’s are now cheaper than they have ever been.

    This leaves little or no doubt that we want ads for processor upgrades as it’s the predominant type of word/phrase.

If your site is suffering from low Adsense clicks check the ads on pages with low click through rates, you will probably see they are not inline with the content.
