Alternatives to Adsense

Here we look into viable alternatives to Adsense

listing other means capable of producing good results.

There are two distinct types of advertiser/affiliate programs, the first is PPC or pay per click, this means you get paid whenever someone clicks on an ad on your site.

The other type is pure sales based earnings; you only earn if someone clicks on an ad on your site and then actually purchases something.

PPC type advertising generally pays much lower per click than per sale this is due to the fact than you get paid regardless of whether a sale is made, as to which is right for your web business means a little bit of time testing the two on your site.

Example of PPC vs Sales Based Advertising

For example let us assume that we get 100 clicks on both advertising methods

On PPC if we earn 25 cents per click, this means we will earn $25

On our sales based method if our average sale is worth $7 we will need to get 4 sales to make it financially more viable than PPC, this means a click through to purchase of just 4% would be required to better PPC.
Now you need to decide which type of advertising is right for your website

Test multiple methods to see what is the right revenue stream for your website.

As you can see the direct sales advertising does initially look better, but as above its something you really need to test, or a good model is to run both methods on a page getting the best all around.

Advertiser Affiliate Programs

Google Adsense
The biggest and most well known of the advertising programs, this is due to the large amount of publishers. Adsense is a PPC service, you register with Google for an account and if successful you create your add code from the Google Adsense website, then paste the code into your websites pages, then Google examines the content of the page and creates ads automatically for you that are inline with the content of your page.

Viable alternatives to Adsense

Yahoo Publisher Network
Yahoo tries to be more like Google in many respects and is a PPC service, but on a smaller scale as the publisher base is much smaller, but they are worth checking out as the earnings per click can be slightly higher than Google as they are trying to expand their advertiser base, but if you have a real niche site make sure they have publishers in line with your content.

Chitika
The third of our PPC services is probably the closest of our alternatives to adsense and after running Chitika for a period of time I only noticed an 11% drop in profits compared to Adsense even though earnings per click were actually higher, I think this was simply due to their GEO (geographical) ads which are served based on the country that the websites visitor is from which I think really limited the amount of ads in line with my content.

Alternatives to Adsense “comments”

comment: Sun 25th July
As you mention above, I think It’s a real logical way when looking for alternatives to Adsense the problem I have found is the amount of variation in Adsense earnings, you might have a day where the average click would be 10c and another day where it could be 50c, so it seems there is no constant to get a clearer picture, if anyone finds one please let me know.
