Don't forget Backup ip address , backup printer
Backup IP address When you perform a backup of your computer do you also make a note of your IP address , names of other computers you connect to , or even FTP details .
This really is one of the most over looked things that people do not generally give a thought to ,
but to go back and find the IP address or name of a computer that you setup a year earlier can be a real pain , especially if the printer is on a sizeable network, which then means going to the printer to find the Name or IP address.
FTP addresses can be even worse, how do you go about finding an FTP address if lost the details on your last Windows computer rebuild, you can either ask the people who administer that which you connect to, or pretty much through trial and error ,
even then you still have to roughly know the path, so to play it safe , make sure you make a note of all of these details.
Backup Printer
If you need to make a note of any printers you connect to , this can be done by Selecting printers from the start menu. Double click the printer you wish to make a note of , and now from the Printer Menu , select properties .
Now select the port tab, from here click properties and you will see the IP address, if your network is configured to recognize printer names , then you can use the name as opposed to the IP address.
Note
It’s always worth making a note of the driver as well, this can be found under the Device tab , this is useful as it means you don’t have to mess around with drivers, as some printers will not be too specific when it comes to names,
i.e. if you have a HP LaserJet 5si/MX there are a number of different drivers for this printer, having made a note of the previous drivers you won’t have to waste time finding the best one for you.
