Backup settings , looking to backup all of your settings at once ?

Its a really great piece of software and its built into Windows XP

Using Windows file and settings wizard.
File Types

All common files types are covered here, but if you have any obscure or other software double check in the files list to see if it is covered.
To begin using file and setting wizardeither run migwiz.exe from run on the start menu or launch from the menu, start menu / all programs / accessories / system tools / file and settings transfer wizardbackup settings
Click next to proceed
From here select Old computer, this will then copy the settings.

When you wish to restore or copy the settings to another computer , just select the other option , New Computer
Now you’ll need to specify where you’d like to backup the settings to,

Note :
If you have a large amount of files and settings to backup you will need a lot of disk space,

From here you have four choices

- Settings only, This will not backup any files
- Files only, This will not backup the settings
- Both files and settings, this is the default and will backup everything in the right hand box.
- The other option we have is Let me select a custom list and settings, this way you can choose exactly what you need to backup, this is useful if you have limited space or do not wish to backup certain settings.

Once your happy you’ve selected the right option, click next.
The file and settings wizard is now off and running, depending on the amount file data it has to backup it may take a few minutes.
Note :
If you are backing up settings and files due to a problem, and you are going to rebuild your computer, make sure the problem is not due to a setting,
Otherwise you’ll just end up copying over the existing problem.
Tips :
Before backing up it’s worth having a tidy up of your hard disk and internet browser, this way the backup will be quicker, you won’t be backing up files you don’t need and the backup will also require less storage space.
