Is your internet browser not refreshing pages properly?
This is a common problem with most browsers, its just most of us dont realize there is a problem as we dont have to refresh web pages and look for changes very often.
The reason a browser does not refresh is down to its default settings which are set to make the chosen web page load faster, it does this by storing part of a web locally on your computer when you initially visit the page, then when you re-visit it uses these stored parts to decrease the pages load time, which can cause a problem when a webpage is frequently updated of not displaying the pages current information.
Basic ways of refreshing and reloading a web page are..
CTRL + R or F5 Key
Or by simply hitting the pages refresh button at the top of the browser window
Sometimes this may not always work, and it can be annoying having to keep doing this, but we have other more advanced ways to invoke this such as…
Internet Explorer not Refreshing
Tools Menu, Internet Options, Browsing History, Settings and under Check for newer versions of stored pages: – Select Every time I visit the webpage
Firefox not Refreshing
Type about:config in the URL window, and you will be presented with Here be dragons! select I will be careful, I promise
Now look for browser.cache.check_doc_frequency double click on this and change the setting to 1
Various options and meanings
0. Check for a new version of a page once per session (a session starts when the first application window opens and ends when the last application window closes).
1. Check for a new version every time a page is loaded.
2. Never check for a new version – always load the page from cache.
3. Check for a new version when the page is out of date. (Default)
There are a number of auto page refreshing add-ins available for Firefox that offer auto page refreshing and updating, although these can cause problems if any information is added from a browser interface.
Note
If you have a slow internet connection setting up your browser to completely reload a page’s content every time the page loads will be very slow.
Having used both Firefox and Internet Explorer for some time now I have generally found Internet Explorer to be more reliable when updating web pages.
