Cannot connect to domain ? what to look for

Cannot connect to domain ?, firstly check you actually have network connectivity, simply by using an application such as Internet Explorer or even Windows explorer. Next Ping your Gateway Address, if this fails make sure you have the right TCP/IP details, generally this happens for mobile users when different sites use mixtures of static and DHCP IP addressing schemes.

If your pc is getting a response from the Gateway Address, make sure any other users do not have the same issue which would indicate a domain controller problem.

But if it’s only one pc having the issue the next step is to check in Active Directory to see if the computer already has a computer account, if so delete this and retry.

You can also simply rename your computer, but this can lead to bad practices in terms of keeping Active Directory tidy. These are the most common problems encountered when joining a computer to a domain, but other causes can include.

Not having access to join a computer to a domain .
Not following the correct format Domain NameComputer Name .
