Control Panel Classic View vs. Category View
Control panel classic view or control panel category view ,
which one?
If your
finding the world of the Windows Control Panel a bit tough,
check to make sure your using the Category view or if you’d like
to remove some of the help and would like a view which gives you
direct access to each control panel component select the Classic
View.
Control Panel Category View
As the name suggests it really reduces the amount of icons by
grouping them together, and giving sub icons.

Control
Panel The Classic View
This is the no frills view, no category’s or sub menu, just all
the control panel contents viewed as one. To change between each
view type Open Control Panel and select Switch to Category View
or Switch to Classic View the setting toggles between the two.

The
difference between the two was designed to meet user technical
or computer levels the category view provides less to be seen
and choose from, but select one of the icons for example
Appearance and Themes and you’ll be presented with not only the
Appearance and Themes program icons, but a task list providing
assistance with each of the tasks.

The same goes
for all other categories.
If selecting
the Classic View don’t expect the same level of help here, this
view is geared more towards the user who knows what to look for
with minimal assistance, help is still provided but is limited.
In essence it
is quicker to use the classic view if you know what to look for,
so If you’d prefer to use Classic a good option is to select
this and then from the View Menu select details, now you’ll be
able to see under the Comments heading a brief description of
what each Control Panel component.
