  • From the Start Run menu type Winmsd – Then Select ComponentsDisplay – you will then be able to see basic information in regard to the card.

If you don’t have the correct driver for your video card then Windows will use a default or basic VGA type of driver, which is designed to simply give you an image until you get the specific driver.

Once downloaded run the application, (you can close or allow it to search for updates) immediately it will interrogate your graphics card and give you as much information as possible.

This is a very useful application as it also gives you extra information in terms of what your graphics card actually supports, as many games specify technical stuff such as “a graphics card needed with pixel shaders” or “minimum 256mb”
