Internet Explorer Slow ? Checkout our Internet Explorer Tweaks

Internet explorer slow . Like many parts of your computer it really needs to be cleaned up or have preventative maintenance run on it periodically, this includes Internet Explorer.

Internet Explorer running slow is a common problem, but before we begin our internet explorer tweaks and cleanup, make sure that your internet connection is working well. A simple test for this is to either try using the internet from another computer and compare the browsing speed or if another computer is not available, try browsing at another time of the day such as early morning when your ISP will not be so busy.

Internet Explorer Slow Fixes

The first thing we need to do is remove all internet temporary files, cookies and offline content. Tools menu > Delete > now delete internet temp files, history, form data and cookies.

Now from the Connections tab > LAN settings un-tick the Automatically detect settings, generally this is not needed for broadband connections and causes an initial pause each time internet explorer is loaded.

Check for spyware, there are some good free Anti-spyware packages around, read more here...

Make sure your anti-virus is up to date, and run a full system scan. It can also be worth checking with another anti virus software package such as online scanners from Mcafee or Panda

Which anti-virus software are you running? Large packages such as Norton can slow down internet explorer, check this by disabling Norton and try browsing to a safe site, once satisfied remember to re-enable Norton or install another similar product.

Check which browser add ins your computer has and disable any that are not required.

Tools menu > Manage Add-ons… now select and disable any that are not needed. They can easily be enabled if needed later.
