Internet Favorites backup , it's fast and easy

Internet Favorites Backup , How long does it take to compile a list of your internet favorites ? ,

The answer to that is, it never ends ,

You’ll always be adding to your internet favorites , you could literally have hundreds , maybe even thousands built up over the course of years .

Just imagine losing these it could be catastrophic , the chances are , even at your office environment they won’t be backed up , all those little niche sites or particular subjects that have taken a long time to find, lost .

A lot of these might be business critical such as online accounting locations or software updates , that cannot be found through search engines .   Luckily it is very easy to make an Internet Favorites backup and because they only use a small amount of space they can be backed up anywhere ,

Along with them we can also backup our cookies , if your not sure what a cookie is checkout our Computer course where we give an explanation of then and what they do.   For your Internet Favorites backup , there are a couple of ways to do this.

The first and most straight forward is through Internet Explorer, this just requires you do go to the File Menu and select  Import and Export , now you’ll have a choice of import favorites and cookies and export favorites and cookies ,

so you choose export favorites , now select which ones you’d like to backup, as a default it selects all of them , now choose the location to export your Internet Favorites backup to .   The other way of exporting favorites is through the operating system , if you go into my computer , you can usually get there from the desktop or bit hitting the Windows Key and E together .   One you have My Computer opened, now select the C drive , it’s normally something like Local Disk (C:) , from here select Documents and Settings ,

You will now see all the users profiles , open the profile of the user you wish to copy the favorites or cookies from , now you will see a list of various folders ,

from here the ones we are interested in are Internet Favorites and Cookies , to back these up just copy them from this location to your backup device .
To Learn about cookies checkout our Internet help article here
Note ..

From here you can also clean up your favorites , it’s far easier from here rather than going through Internet Explorer especially If you have a lot to backup.   If you wish to create a home page using your internet favorites backup , export your favorites as above , now go to the file menu and select open ,

go to the location that you exported the favorites to , usually this will be in my documents , named bookmarks .

sorry no internet favorites backup page

Now go to the tools menu , select Internet Options , under the Home page sub heading choose , use current .

This will now use your favorites as your current home page .
