Laptop computers are more popular now than they have ever been, and unfortunately dollar for dollar are still more expensive than a desktop of similar specification, so they need to be looked after properly.

The most common time a laptop gets damaged is in transit, and poorly protected laptop bags and cases offer little or no protection as you carry your laptop with you.

When buying laptop bags or cases it’s easy to ignore some basic but important things. Many laptops come with a free laptop bag or case, but how good is it? Normally not very.

Next comes the material of which the laptop case is made, firstly it should be hard wearing, and waterproof is a big thing if the laptop case is going to be exposed to the elements.

Other things to look out for are, do you need a shoulder strap? Carrying even the lightest laptop for extended periods of time will get heavy.

Make sure the chosen case has extra pockets to store other things such as mains adapters etc. An extra pocket in your case is a must for the mains adapter as you really don’t want this banging against the laptop.

And on a final note, sadly today laptops are viewed as an easy to steal item, there are a number of laptop bags and laptop backpacks that go some way to disguising the fact that it’s a laptop carrier .

When It comes to a make or brand really ignore this, choose a case that’s right for you, buying a cheap laptop/notebook case, or an expensive one that does not suit you or your laptops needs is a false economy.
