New Page 1

Laptop screens have improved greatly over the past few years, long gone are the days of slow screen updates and cursors with trails.

The most common laptop display types available are XGA, SXGA, WXGA & WSXGA

XGA Extended Graphics Array
offers a screen resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels with vivid colors and good refresh rates

SXGA Super Extended Graphics Array
this generally is the most common laptop monitor type it offers a higher resolution of 1280 x 1024

WXGA & WXGA+ Wide Extended Graphics Array
this screen type is becoming ever more popular with the later generation of laptops it offers a maximum resolution of 1440 x 900 with an aspect ratio of 16:10 which is great for watching our wider screen movies

WSXGA+ Widescreen Super Extended Graphics Array Plus
although still at the expensive end of the scale in terms of laptop screens, it offers a much higher resolution than the previous 1680 x 1050

When deciding on a laptop screen the most common at the moment appear to be SXGA, but most manufactures of 14 inch plus laptops now offer WXGA which allows for greater horizontal size.
