A Microsoft Office detect and repair can take a while to run, it will fix most office problems, to run a detect and repair choose the Detect and Repair option from the help menu of any Microsoft Office application.
Windows Repair
If all else fails a Windows repair is the last resort, and depending on which operating system you have, Windows 7, XP or Vista there are different ways for this to be run.
Before running a Windows repair backup your files, everything should still be ok, but a Windows repair is a major procedure so best to air on the side of caution in this case, before proceeding.
A Windows repair will cause Windows to revert to a just built state in terms of its settings, most applications will be unaffected, all files will remain intact.
