Outlook Express Error Codes & Fixes

Before trying any of the email error code fixes below make sure you’ve ruled out the chance of basic problems such as checking you actually have internet connectivity by testing your browser.

If you have just setup your email check and double check that the configuration is correct.

0x800CCC00 Load Sicily Failed
Authentication Problem, check username and password
If you have just changed a username or password allow up to 30 minutes for changes to come into effect.
Corrupt email profile, delete and re-create



0x800CCC01 Invalid Certificate
Has your certificate expired or become corrupt, either way you will need to get another from your email provider.

0x800CCC03 User Already Connected
Is your account already in user elsewhere?
Did you crash out of your email account or did it not close properly, maybe your account is still being seen as in use, it may take a while to timeout, anything up to an hour.

0x800CCC05 Not Connected to Server
Check for an internet connection using your chosen web browser.
Quit outlook express and make sure the process has ended by the following method.

Hit CRTL ALT DEL keys together, select Task manager, Select the Processes tab, look for MSINM.EXE and end process.

Now try launching Outlook Express again

0x800CCC0A Message Download Incomplete
Delete the file pop3uidl.dbx this file marks which files have already been downloaded, if this becomes damaged or corrupt then you may find duplicate emails downloaded. Search for this file and simply delete and it will be recreated.
Are you giving a message long enough to download? Larger messages and slow internet connections can take ages.
If the mail simply will not download after literally hours, your ISP will be able to check your message queue and delete accordingly.

0x800CCC0B Server is Busy
Sometimes mail servers do get busy and depending on data loads some server busy errors may be a common occurrence, wait 10 mins or so and check again, in the meantime

Check your server provider does not have an issue, most decent providers will have a status link on their home page.

0x800CCC0D cannot find host - Cannot locate server
Make sure News Groups are not selected if you do not subscribe to any, this can disabled from TOOLS - OPTIONS - GENERAL tab un-tick option to disable.

0x800CCC0E Failed to Connect - Cannot connect to server
Make sure News Groups are not selected if you do not subscribe to any, this can disabled from TOOLS - OPTIONS - GENERAL tab un-tick option to disable.

0x800CCC0F Connection Dropped
Generally a connection fault, check all cable connections.
Check internet connection speed, if the line has too much interference this error will be common, as the connection drops.
Make sure your ISP is not running any form of server maintenance.

0x800CCC10 Invalid Address - Address not known on server
Check you have the correct email address details, usually means the address is in the wrong format.

0x800CCC11 Invalid Address List - Mailing list not known on the server
Check you have the correct details if you are using an online address book.
Remove the online address book and test before re-adding.

0x800CCC12 Socket Read Error - Unable to send Winsock request

 0x800CCC13 Socket Write Error - Unable to read Winsock

0x800CCC15 Socket Connect Error - Unable to open Windows socket
Remove and re-add your IP settings

0x800CCC16 Invalid Account - User account not recognized
Login credentials error, make sure numbers are numbers; letters are letters as this can be confusing.

0x800CCC17 User Cancel
The user has cancelled the mail send and receive, try again, if system appears to be hanging, double check the network traffic from the network icon.

Large emails with small connections are not a good combination and patience is needed here.

Check with your ISP who can see your message queue and delete any large emails for you.

0x800CCC18 Sicily Logon Failed - Logon attempt failed
Authentication Problem, check username and password.
If you have just changed a username or password allow up to 30 minutes for changes to come into effect.
Corrupt email profile, delete and re-create

0x800CCC19 Timeout
Try increasing network timeouts.
From tools internet options advanced, after this find and delete the file pop3uidl file, try outlook again and this will be recreated.

0x800CCC1A Secure Connect Failed - Unable to connect using SSL
Make sure your ISP uses SSL otherwise turn this feature off from tools email account properties
