Power Saving Mode

My monitor enters power saving mode and then i cannot get it to come back to life, the monitor flashes again and again trying to get a signal from the computer, but the screen remains blank, what do you think could be causing this?

The computer is only 6 months old, but the monitor is perhaps 3 years old, do i need to replace the monitor, or is there any way around this without spending money, which i would much prefer of course.

If moving the mouse does nothing, then it probably means the computer or your monitor is not compatible with the power saving mode, which is common on older monitor, you need to disable the power saving to stop this happening otherwise you will have to replace the monitor.
