Learn to use the Windows XP Restore System

Windows XP has a fantastic feature called the Windows XP Restore System .

This is a major development for Operating systems , it not only allows you to recover from a corrupt or problematic system , but also allows you to restore to any given date that when a restore point was created.

Generally the Microsoft system restore will create a restore point whenever a major system change is implemented , this can include such things as software installs or driver updates etc .

You can also create your own restore points whenever you wish , but note , they do use disk space so once your happy your computer is working fine, every now and then it's a good idea to keep things tidy by removing all but the most current system restore point.

The Microsoft System Restore

From the restore system function , if your pc was working ok on Monday and Started giving you problems on say Tuesday you may be able to restore to the Monday configuration.

This will then put your computer back to almost how it was on Monday, I say almost as it does not change any work files you may have created, but it will change any other settings to the system made after the chosen restore day.

Firstly make sure you saved any changes to documents and close any other open applications.

To use system restore go to the "start" menu Select All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Restore

from the restore system menu

Select "Restore my Computer To An Earlier Time"

" NOTE .. It's from here you can also create restore points "

Pick a date ( the last time it was working ok )

Follow the prompts and it will begin, once finished your computer will restart and fingers crossed your pc will now be fine.

If the problem persists , have a look at the dates on the restore calendar , from here you'll be able to see what was installed on each restore point date.

You may then have to restore to an even earlier date.
