Engine Ranking
When it comes to search engine optimization or seo there are a
number of points you really need to think of.
The first part of seo is
keywords and content
firstly your content has to have a good spread of keywords
Keywords are simply words that are searched for the keywords
should be seamlessly woven into your content, so in effect your
content needs to serve 2 purposes,
First and foremost it needs to be of interest to
visitors to your page, secondly it needs to appeal to search
engines such as Google, Yahoo, MSN & Ask.
A good spread of keywords is around about 2-4% of the total
articles words, more than this and you take the risk of being
penalised for keyword spamming.
Next you really need to know at least the basics of HTML so you
can carry out other seo and add such things as H1 & H2 headings
to your page, you’ll also need to add some title and meta tags
for example.

meta name="description" content="the basics of search engine
optimization and how to increase your search engine ranking" />
meta name="keywords" content="search engine optimization,
search engine ranking, Google page rank search engines" />
This is generally for the search engines and makes a huge
difference to your search engine ranking, once you’ve got your
site indexed by the search engines you’ll want to be able to
monitor its page rank, this can simply be done by downloading
the free Google toolbar and enabling the Page Rank function.
Once you’ve got the Google
toolbar installed you can then see the Page Ranking for any site
0 being the lowest and 10 being the highest.
If you’re looking to get your site listed in the search engines
you really need to get a few good links coming onto your site
from a site with a Page Rank of 3 or higher, getting listed in
Google can literally take months, but with a few good inbound
links this will happen much much quicker as in the eyes of the
search engines inbound links make your site look more valuable.
To attain real long term website success there is no trick, it
all comes down to a few simple rules, make sure you have
valuable content, lots of it, content is king.
Have a linking campaign, but make sure you only offer
reciprocal or outbound links to similar sites, never link to
sites which offer no value such as ad farms.
Building a successful website is
a slow process, but be patient, keep creating your optimised
content and you’ll reach your goal.
