Setting up a Blog - How Easy is it?
Setting up a Blog can really be done
in two ways -
We can choose to use a service such as
Blogger or Squidoo which gives a good introduction to blogging
as it makes it makes creating a blog easier without any
programming knowledge or having to know what is going on from
the server end.
Until recently this was considered the only way of setting up a
blog for many, as creating one with your own domain was always
considered something that was more involved than the average
person wish to be, with subjects such as CSS, PHP and MySql.
But now thanks largely to many hosting services
giving scripted installs of blogging software such as Word Press
it means just about anyone can setup their own professional
looking blog in around 30 minutes.
Think I’m kidding, or this
is beyond you?
It really is this straight forward, many
hosting companies such as Bluehost offer everything you need for
around $6 per month, and this includes a domain name of your
choice, MySql & web space, and a very easy blog setup routine.
The beauty of using this type of setup really
means setting up a Blog is that easy now just about everyone can
create their own, and not have to worry about the technical end
so to speak, the hardest part is simply learning to use the Word
Press administration console once your scripted Blog install is
complete, even this though offers a pretty intuitive graphical
interface.
From your Blogs interface with a couple of
clicks you can
Create posts, add users, moderate other posts and comments
created by other users who register with your Blog.
Change the look of your whole Blog adding a new
theme, and there are literally thousands of free ones to choose
from, you can even change it back.
Perform updates to make sure you are using the latest version of
Word Press
Add plug-ins which enables your Blog to do all
manner of things such as Advertising, Add emoticons, search
engine optimisation, and spam filtering, plus much more.
It is very hard to put into words just how nice this software is
to use, the ease at which you can manage it and change it around
to suit your needs is great.

So if you are looking to create a website/blog find a hosting
company who can provide this service, you’ll be pleased you did.
Why should I not use a free service such as
Blogger or Squidoo?
Using a free service is a good introduction to Blogging, but you
are limited to the rules and regulations of the service, plus
you actually make money for the free hosting company through
them advertising around your Blog.
Creating your own Blog using your own domain name not only looks
more professional, but you actually own the domain and if your
Blog makes money you keep it all as well as building a Blog
which could be valuable in its own right
Setting up a Blog or a
website – what is right for you?
It’s all relative to what you want to do, but generally a blog
can do what most websites do in a much easier way, plus it
allows visitors to interact with the site itself posting pages
and comments.
Did you know search engines
