Spyware Doctor review – In a nutshell Spyware Doctor is basically a complete easy to run antimalware package.

Select the software to download agree to the license
Download – run the download allow Google updater to install antispyware doctor.
Once finished you’ll receive the Intelliguard popup screen, it is worth allowing this to be enabled it gives real time protection to your computer scanning files as you browse or download them.
When you run Spyware doctor
you will see the Select an action screen the Intelliguard protection will be set to limited, but this is ok, as it just means we are running the free version as below.

Most of these are pretty self explanatory such as No Scan run due to the software just being installed, or No update run again due to the software just being downloaded it will be the most up-to-date version.
Starter Edition, upgrade now – as this version of Spyware doctor is free, its also the cut down version of the full package which does cost money.
Even though it is the cut down version its still very good, after all Google would not recommend just any piece of software, once you get to grips with Spyware Doctor if you need more functionality then consider upgrading, as it also offers protection against viruses and worms.
Antivirus Engine is not installed, again this is part of the full version, most users I’m sure will already have antivirus installed, but if your on the verge of renewing or looking for another antivirus protection check it out.

By now you will probably find that Spyware Doctor has been running in the background and you will more than likely see Infections Click on this and you will be able to see what its found. Before you click the Fix Checked box have a look around at the interface for the scan results, it’s a good way to develop an understanding of what your computer picks up when browsing and if we look on the top left you can see the Threat Level which will generally be low, clicking on this will open a page in your internet browser giving even more information on what it has found.
One last point before hitting the Fix Checked button, notice on the bottom right there is a little Tick box with Create Restore Point before removal, it’s a very good idea to ensure this is ticked, removing files listed as spyware can very rarely cause a problem with an associated application, so with system restore we can easily revert back if this happens.
Ok click the Fix Checked button, read the Legal notice (and disable if you wish) and Continue Removal, after a few minutes we should see Congratulations, all infections successfully removed.
Next choose the Settings button here we have lots more options to choose from, luckily though most of the Options do have pretty good default settings,
You can choose to run a scan every time windows starts, this is ok if you want the most up-to-date protection and piece of mind, but it will slow down the boot time of your computer, I just run a manual scan once a week and this suits me fine.
Many of the other options give choices such as more Intelliguard settings – Scan history, this can be useful to see if your computer gets infected by the same spyware each time – scan settings – Global Action List that is used to define rules to block certain items, which if used with your scan history is a good way to prevent common spyware – one of the most important parts of any spyware or antivirus package is the scheduled scanning, many people, myself included rarely run manual scans, having an auto scan that you can set to kick in at lunch or a less busy time is a nice feature.
There are a lot of nice anti spyware products on the market such as Spybot Search and Destroy which is also free, but sadly there are also others which are in effect more like spyware themselves giving popups, making your computer run slow – hijacking your browser – so only use reputable anti spyware scanning products such as Spyware Doctor or Spybot Search and Destroy
