How to Upload Phone Pictures to Your Computer
Upload phone pictures the easy way.
As cameras on mobile phones have progressed the image quality
has improved, in many cases they now offer a viable alternative
to using a dedicated camera, but unfortunately phones do get
lost, stolen, so how about a easy and convenient way to backup
all of your photos?
To upload phone pictures to your computer
can be real a hassle, as generally we have 4 choices.
1) Connect your phone to your computer via
its cable.
2) Remove the phones memory card if it has one, and then plug
into your computer via a card reader.
3) Bluetooth, which can be slow, and of course you need a
Bluetooth dongle on your computer.
4) Wi-Fi, now were talking, but how do you connect to your
computer wirelessly?
There is a 5th option that we’ll
discuss in a minute, this method works so well in all aspects
that I am really surprised that more people do not use it.
There are a number of products on the market which offer
a web based service, pretty much all phones today can access the
internet so it certainly makes sense to use this.
One of the best products on the web today
is called drop box, the actual idea is simple, and this is what
makes it work so well.
How does it work
Install the drop box software on your phone and pc, you
need to register and setup an account, but it’s free for up to
2gb of storage.
Anything you copy into the drop box folder
on your phone will synchronize with the drop box service on the
internet, this in-turn will synchronize the drop box folder on
your pc, which means if you was to take a photo on your phone,
copy it to the drop box folder by the time you get home it will
automatically be in your pc’s drop box, from here you can move
the picture or pictures to any other location on your pc which
then frees up the space on your drop box, which means you will
not exceed your 2gb limit (if you do you can also pay for extra
space)
So just to recap on how this works
1)
Setup your drop box account
2) Install the drop box software on any
devices you wish to share files on, this will create a drop box
folder.
3) Any files copied into the drop box
folder will automatically sync to any other drop boxes on other
phones or computers that you have setup via the phone or
computers internet connection.
3) Delete a file from one drop box and it
will be deleted from all of them, for example delete a file from
your computers drop box and it will be removed from the phones
drop box too.
Notes
One very nice little feature on phones using drop box is
the intelligent space usage. This means that if you copy
anything from the computer into the drop box, your phone will be
able to see everything in the drop box, but it only sees a
shortcut of it until you actually select the file to download,
saving space, which is very useful if your phone has limited
storage.
