How to Make Vista Look like XP

Why to make Vista look like XP - If you are in the market for a new computer and your looking for Windows XP this could be an issue, pretty much all new computers now come with Windows Vista only – Initially you could simply remove Vista and then Install XP, but now much of the new hardware coming onto the market is only having Vista drivers developed for it.

So the only option left to us is to live with Vista, on the whole now that Microsoft has repaired many of the initial bugs it is not such as bad system.

As to why Microsoft changed the interface so much after living with XP for so many years is any ones guess, but luckily they have left some options available to us to make Vista resemble XP which works very well.

To begin With Part 1

  1. Right Click on the Vista Desktop

  2. Select Personalize

  3. Theme Option

  4. Under the Theme Choose Windows Classic. Now you will have the XP Style Start Menu Option

    - If you do not see the classic options, click on Open classic appearance properties for more Color options -

Part 2

  1. Next right click on the Start Menu

  2. Select Properties

  3. Under the Start Menu tab select Classic Start Menu – this will give the menu the style and functionality of Windows XP

Now does Vista resemble XP ? this is about as close as you can get – of course this only changes the surface look and functionality, but the underlying settings and configuration are still totally Vista.

If you ever want to revert back to the Vista look simply perform the reverse of the options above, on the whole though Vista is a good operating system and it does not take too long to get to grips with, so spend a few minutes and try it in its native mode, after all this is the future until we get the next incarnation of Windows.

Now you have made Vista look like XP why not make it run more like it too with our tuning tips
