Before the creation of web based yahoo messanger the only choice we had was to download and install Yahoo instant messanger application.
Although this is no doubt a great application, and each new version has indeed become better and better; but to a certain degree it was always limited due to the fact that it had to be installed locally to be used.
What if you did not wish to install it or was unable to due to company restrictions?
What if the Yahoo instant messanger port was blocked but your company?
What if you travel and cannot or do not wish to take a computer with you, how can you chat to your MSN contacts?
It’s simple, by using web based yahoo messanger it means all we need is a computer with an internet connection, a browser such as Internet Explorer or Firefox, and Adobe Flash player and off we go; well almost.
Firstly you’ll need to have a Yahoo account, to setup one of these go to www.yahoo.com
So what is Yahoo web messanger ?
The web based version of Yahoo messanger allows us to connect and chat using only an internet browser, the beauty of this is being able to go anywhere with an internet connection and being able to chat to your contacts.
Once you have a Yahoo account remember the following URL

Simply enter your credentials and off you go for the Yahoo alternative to web based Yahoo.
At present if you use other parts of yahoo instant messanger such as conference, audio chatting, video, or transferring files these features are not available within web messenger.
