The easiest way to get Windows updates is to have them automatically download for you, and then you just install them at your leisure, this way you’ll never miss any.
To get windows to automatically update, go to control panels from the start menu, select system and automatic updates, and just set it for automatic. If you do not wish to use automatic updates, you can manually update by using one of the following methods,
Launch Internet explorer and go to the Tools Menu > select Window XP Update , Or simply go to via the Microsoft web site www.microsoft.com/updates
This will take you to the Window XP update location, from here it will tell you which updates your computer needs,
they are divided into two categories Critical which should always be installed or High priority which covers the less urgent updates.
If you have all the updates installed, I’d recommend you download the Microsoft baseline security analyzer, this will tell you if your computer is missing any other system patches,

plus it will also tell you if Microsoft Office needs any patches as well, if you do need any they can be downloaded directly from the Application, the application is FREE and is a really good piece of software, it’s gives you a great piece of mind once you know that all the updates on your computer are current.
