The Windows Quick Launch Toolbar

New Page 1

The Windows quick launch bar is a great little utility for quickly launching frequently used applications and files, but unfortunately there seems to be very little in the way of documentation about it.

When customizing our quick launch toolbar we must first unlock it, otherwise only 4 icons will be in view. To do this Right Click on the blue task bar and Select Lock the Taskbar, this should remove the tick from the option.

Now you can stretch the menu bar horizontally, move the cursor over the lines as below, click > hold and drag now expand and shrink in either direction.

Note..

The menu bar can also be dragged vertically, this can be very useful if you have lots of application on quick launch or have lots of open apps that you need to see open.

If you want to delete any icons Right Click on the icon you wish to remove and select Delete. Note.. This will only delete the file or application shortcut, not the application.

To add icons, the easiest way is to Right Click on the file or application you wish to add to your quick launch toolbar and choose Send To > Desktop (create shortcut) Once the shortcut has been create d on the desktop simply drag it onto the Windows quick launch. For a slightly more advanced way, without creating the desktop shortcut, Right Click and hold on the item you wish to add and while still holding the mouse button drag to the quick launch group, release and select Create Shortcuts here.

Other

If you can't see the quick launch toolbar, Right Click on the bottom task bar, select properties; tick the "Show Quick Launch Group" box

Depending on the level of user access your account has, you may need this to be increased if unable to make changes.
